Zippi Ride chain adjustment

A chain that's too loose skips. A chain that's too tight grinds and wears out fast. Here's how to get it right — quick adjustment, no special tools.

What this guide covers

  • How to tell if your chain needs adjusting
  • Loosening the axle bolts
  • Setting the correct chain tension (a small amount of vertical play)
  • Re-tightening and checking alignment
  • Test ride to confirm

What you'll need

  • A spanner — included in the original box
  • A clean rag to wipe down the chain
  • About 5 minutes

The right tension

You should be able to push the chain up and down about 1-2 cm in the middle. Less than that and it's too tight. More and it's too loose. If the chain is visibly stretched or has a stiff link, it's time to replace rather than adjust.
