Replacing the throttle on a Zippi Rippa Bike
Throttle stiff, stuck or unresponsive? Quick swap walkthrough for all three Rippa sizes.
Kids' bikes get used hard, and the throttle takes most of it. If yours is feeling stiff, sticky, or not responding the way it used to, the replacement is a quick fix with the right parts and a couple of Allen keys.
What this guide covers
- Powering down the bike safely before any electrical work
- Removing the grip and sliding the old throttle off
- Disconnecting the throttle wiring at the connector
- Connecting and fitting the new throttle
- Re-fitting the grip and tightening to the right tension
- Testing before handing the bike back
What you'll need
- A replacement Rippa throttle — order from spares and accessories (the same part fits the 12", 16", and 20" Rippa)
- Allen keys (included with your original bike)
- About 10 minutes
Before you start
Always remove the battery before working on the throttle wiring. With the battery out, there's no power running through the bike — safer for you, safer for the new part.
