Adding training wheels to the Zippi 12" Rippa
Training wheels for the Rippa 12" — what you need, how to fit them, and when your kid is ready to take them off.
Some kids hit the Rippa 12" already balanced — others want a confidence boost. Training wheels are a sold-separately accessory for the Rippa 12", and they fit in about five minutes.
What this guide covers
- What's in the training wheel kit
- Fitting the brackets to the rear axle
- Setting the right height so both wheels just brush the ground
- Tightening properly so they don't loosen mid-ride
- When to remove them
What you'll need
- The Rippa 12" training wheel kit — available from spares and accessories
- A spanner — included with the kit
- About 5 minutes
When to take them off
Training wheels are a confidence tool, not a permanent fixture. When you see your kid riding with the trainers barely touching the ground, leaning into corners, and not relying on them to stay upright — that's the signal. Take them off, watch them ride, put them back on if they're not quite ready. No harm done.
